Frequently Asked
Questions

Is porcelain paving worth the extra cost?

While it can be more expensive upfront, porcelain’s long lifespan and low maintenance often make it more cost-effective in the long run. You save on sealing, cleaning and potential replacements. Plus, it keeps its good looks for years with minimal effort.

Does porcelain paving come in natural-looking styles?

Yes, absolutely. Modern porcelain ranges include incredibly realistic stone-effect and wood-effect designs. You get the charm of materials like sandstone, slate or timber with all the performance benefits of porcelain – no fading, no moss, and barely any upkeep.

Can I lay porcelain paving like natural stone slabs?

The installation is similar. However, you’ll also need to use VillaFix Porcelain & Stone Primer to ensure the tiles bond correctly. It’s a bit more technical, but the results are stunning.

Is porcelain paving slippery when wet?

Not if you choose outdoor-grade porcelain. Most external porcelain tiles have a textured, slip-resistant surface (often rated R11 or higher), making them safe for patios, paths, and pool areas even in wet weather. Just be sure you're buying paving designed specifically for outdoor use.

What makes porcelain paving different from natural stone?

Porcelain paving is man-made using refined clay andfired at extremely high temperatures. This makes it incredibly hard, dense andresistant to water absorption. Unlike natural stone, it doesn’t weather, stain, or require sealing, giving you a clean, contemporary lookthat’s easy to maintain.
